VOI Interview with Didarul Iqbal

VOI: When was the first time you listened to the Voice of Indonesia?

Didarul Iqbal: I think I started listening to RRI-VOI on October 12, 2002, after the Bali bombing in Kuta, a tourist district in the Indonesian archipelago. Because, at that time I heard detailed NEWS about Bali bombing from BBC and Voice of America (VOA) Bengali language program on my SW Radio, since then I became interested to know more about Indonesia and I started listening to RRI World Service - Voice of Indonesia (VOI) program but I don't remember the exact time. The incident of that bombing in Bali left a deep impression on my heart and I was terrified. One thing to say - I know about Indonesia after the Bali bombing! The incident of Bali will be remembered by me forever. Externally I know that Indonesia is a country of the world like Bangladesh, but I was not interested to know about this country before. The incident of the Bali bombing made me curious to know about Indonesia. From that time onwards, I used to listen to RRI-VOI's programs in an irregular manner, but since 2011 I have been communicating through letters. I have been trying to listen to regular programs through online streaming since 2012 and even now through `RRIplay Go’ apps. I love VOI very much. I am hoping to listen to Bengali language programs from my favorite Radio one day, maybe one day I will be able to listen to programs in my own language. I wish RRI-VOI success in its long journey. Joy VOI.
